Border Protection & Security Summit
The Border Protection and Security Summit is envisioned as a high-level platform to strengthen Nigeria’s border management architecture and address the multifaceted challenges arising from porous frontiers. It will convene strategic stakeholders from government, security institutions, the private sector, international partners, and civil society to deliberate on innovative approaches, collaborative frameworks, and sustainable interventions that can transform Nigeria’s borders from weak entry points into secure gateways for peace, trade, and development.
At the heart of the summit are policy dialogues with key national institutions such as the Defence Headquarters, Ministry of Interior, Customs, Immigration, Police, and Civil Defence, alongside regional and global partners including ECOWAS, the African Union, UNODC, IOM, Interpol, and diplomatic missions. These engagements will be complemented by a Border Technology Exhibition showcasing cutting-edge innovations such as drones, sensors, artificial intelligence platforms, biometric systems, digital identity tools, and fintech applications that can redefine cross-border trade and security.
The Border Protection and Security Summit 2025, scheduled for November 18–19 in Abuja (Tentatively), is a landmark platform designed to tackle Nigeria’s pressing border security challenges through innovation, collaboration, and sustainable partnerships. The Summit will convene government institutions, security agencies, international partners, and civil society to engage in high-level policy dialogues, showcase cutting-edge border technologies such as drones, biometrics, and AI surveillance, and amplify community voices from border regions.
With sessions on youth-driven innovation, environmental security, and regional cooperation, the Summit aims to produce concrete outcomes, including the creation of an African Border Protection Network, the launch of a Nigeria Border Futures Fund, and the rollout of pilot projects to boost both security and community resilience. Its impact will not only strengthen inter-agency collaboration and operational capacity of security agencies but also enhance Nigeria’s overall border governance, reinforcing national stability and regional security.
